This is Francisco Rivera's work of a flint serpent (Itzcoatl) from Mexico City as seen on page 82 of the book Design Motifs of Ancient Mexico by Jorge Enciso. The recesses are oxidized to add depth and contrast. The pin is convex to make it more realistic. A wonderful vintage Taxco set.
